Position Summary: The HHA’S role is to provide personal care, home management, and respite assistance to clients, based on assessed needs. The HHA encourages clients, to be as independent as possible. Personal care provided by the HHA will be assigned and supervised by an HCC RN. Home management and respite assistance provided by the HHA will be assigned and supervised by the HCC RN/ delegate.
Duties and Responsibilities
Providing personal care, home management, and respite care.
Performing in a confidential and accountable manner.
Home management tasks: a) Assisting client to be as independent as possible, b) Light housekeeping c) Changing linen d) Laundry e) Menu planning f) Meal preparation/assistance g) Shopping assistance h) Assisting with clients' personal business.
Personal Care tasks: a) Assisting client to be independent b) Daily hygiene assistance c) Bathing & grooming d) Assistance with eating/feeding e) Assistance with transfers/mobility f) Assistance with toileting g) Dressing h) Range of motion exercises i) Basic wound dressings j) skin care k) Routine foot & nail (non-diabetic clients only) l) Assistance with medical regimes as certified m) Bedtime assistance.
Respite Assistance tasks: a) Supervision and assistance to clients who cannot be left alone b) Support, encouragement, and guidance to family members caring for terminally ill clients living at home.
Other duties include: a) Reporting relevant changes in clients' condition or caregiver status to the supervisor. b) Making recommendations for improvement in clients' care to supervisor c) Maintaining accurate records of care given and health status changes observed in clients, as per Agency requirements d) Attending training programs and services to maintain/increase knowledge base. e) Maintenance mileage records, schedules, and time sheets as required f) Maintaining monthly statistics/reports.
Qualifications:
Grade 12 High School Diploma and/or graduate from an accredited training program.
Must have a demonstrated ability to work with others.
Maintain a valid Saskatchewan Drivers Class 5 Licence and have a registered vehicle.
The ability to speak/understand the language(S) of the community is an asset.
Must have a demonstrated ability to accept direction/supervision.
Must be able to provide care for others.
Must be able to maintain confidentiality.
Must have excellent oral and written communication skills.
Computer skills are an asset.
Previous experience working in a First Nation community is an asset.
